The inaugural session of the Future Chemical Engineering Lecture Series was successfully held at East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) on November 28, 2025.

The event featured two distinguished speakers in the field of catalytic science: Professor Zhang Tao, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Bert M. Weckhuysen, an Academician of the European Academy of Sciences. Professor Zhang delivered a lecture titled Single-Atom Catalysis, tracing the field's development over the past decade. Professor Weckhuysen's lecture, Operando Spectroscopy of Heterogeneous Catalysts to Make Fuels and Chemicals from Renewable Resources, focused on real-time monitoring techniques for green chemical processes.

Following the presentations, the guest academicians were presented with honorary certificates and engaged in a lively discussion with attending faculty and students.

ECUST aims to establish this lecture series as a premier academic platform to advance the discipline and contribute to major national strategic goals, including energy security and carbon neutrality.
